9×13 glass pan or casserole dish
Large mixing bowl
Aluminum foil
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 12 eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 5-6 pieces of bread, broken into crumbs (I used my homemade sourdough bread)
- 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 1 lb ground sausage
Helpful Tips
If you don’t have ground sausage at home, you can also use ground turkey. To make it taste like sausage, you will just need to salt it, and add in about 1 tsp of Italian seasoning.
For the crumbled bread, I use my sourdough bread without the crust, but you can use any bread, such as sandwich bread.
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Next, place your skillet on stovetop and turn to medium heat. Once the pan is warmed up, add your sausage into the skillet. Cook the sausage thoroughly, about 15 minutes, and remove from heat. (If sausage is plain, salt and pepper to taste.)
- Then, crumble bread and 1 cup of cheese into the skillet with the sausage. Set aside for now.
- In a large mixing bowl, crack in 12 eggs.
- Add the heavy cream, salt and pepper into the bowl of eggs.
- Lightly whisk the ingredients with a hand whisk.
- Pour the egg mixture into the 9×13 glass pan or casserole dish.
- Taking your skillet, add the sausage, bread crumbles, and cheese mixture on top of the eggs.
- Distribute the mixture evenly.
- Top with the remaining 1 cup of grated cheese, distributing evenly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil, and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, until the cheese starts to brown slightly and bubble.

Serve immediately, or allow the casserole to cool down just slightly before serving.

How to Serve
This breakfast casserole is absolutely delicious just on it’s own. But if you would like even more flavor, consider adding some hot sauce or sour cream to top it off!
