Why You’ll Love This Recipe
There really is no way to mess up this recipe. Simply follow my instructions, and you are sure to end up with amazingly delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies every time!
I love this recipe because the cookies keep their form. These chocolate chip cookies come out in the most perfect shape, as long as you let them chill for the recommended time.

Tips
Allowing the cookie batter to chill for at least 25 minutes is what gives these chocolate chip cookies their perfect “cookie” shape.

If you choose not to chill the batter first, you will still get delicious, tasty cookies. They just won’t hold their form as beautifully as they do when chilled.
This chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe calls for 10 minutes of baking time. The bake time will depend on your oven. If you have a hotter oven, try 9 minutes. If you have a cooler oven, bake for 11-12 minutes.
Simply increase the bake time by a few minutes if you are looking for a less chewy chocolate chip cookie, and more on the crunchy side.
Tools You May Need
Stand mixer (I use a Kitchen Aid)
Cookie dough (or ice cream) scoop
Cookie sheet
Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 3/4 cup butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg, 1 egg yolk (room temp)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips (we love ours loaded with chocolate, so we do 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a separate bowl, combine all your dry ingredients.
Place the melted butter and both sugars into your mixer bowl. Mix for about a minute or until creamy.
Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mix until blended well.
Next, add in your dry ingredients. Mix until everything is fully incorporated. Use the baking spatula to scrape down the sides to ensure that all dry ingredients are mixed in well.

Then, add in the chocolate chips. Turn your stand mixer on 1 or 2, just until all the chocolate chips are mixed in. Turn off mixer, and use the baking spatula to mix in, if the chocolate chips are stuck.

After this, chill the cookie dough for at least 25 minutes in the refrigerator.
Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Using a cookie dough/ice cream scooper, scoop the cookie dough into balls onto the cookie sheet.

Evenly space all the cookies to ensure that they are not too close together.
Bake the chocolate chip cookies for 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
Notes
The extra 1 egg yolk is what gives these cookies that perfectly chewy texture.
Adding corn starch is to aid in the cookie having a great form and texture, and also contributing to chewiness and softness.
